Project Background

Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal is a greenfield port development on the Port of Gladstone. When completed, it will contribute an extra 27 million tonnes per annum of export capacity to the port, with potential to expand up to 120mtpa. The terminal will draw off new and existing mines in the Surat and southern Bowen Basins. The terminal is close to completion, and expected to unload its first load from a train in March 2015.

A major engineering client approached us to supply special LV cables, as the two major contracted LV cable suppliers on site were struggling to fulfil orders of customised nylon jacketed cables. By this stage the project was well underway and lead times were critical, leaving no time to negotiate long manufacturing processes. Amplex offered a short, 4-5 week lead time for custom, nylon jacketed, PVC sheathed instrumentation cables, and other LV cables. By the time our supply commitment was nearing completion, delivery of custom cable was being undertaken in as short as 2 weeks, including 4 days delivery to Gladstone from Amplex’s facility.

Scope of Supply:

Low voltage cables, instrumentation cables, copper tape screened cables, nylon jacketed cables.
