HumeLink West Transmission Project (NSW)
The HumeLink West project forms part of a major transmission network upgrade across regional New South Wales, supporting the expansion of high-voltage infrastructure between Maragle, Wagga Wagga, and Gugaa. As a key component of the broader HumeLink development, the project strengthens electricity transfer capacity across the grid and supports the connection of large-scale renewable energy generation.
Operating across multiple sites, the project involves working within varied regional environments, including exposed rural areas and established substation locations. These conditions introduce challenges such as temperature variation, dust, and long-distance infrastructure runs, requiring reliable, compliant cabling solutions that can perform consistently across distributed assets and complex installation conditions.
To support the project, Amplex supplied a significant volume of low voltage infrastructure cabling tailored to meet site-specific requirements across all three locations. Customised drum lengths and coordinated supply ensured efficient installation and alignment with construction timelines across multiple work fronts.
Project Supply Highlights:
- 352,720 metres of specialised LV cable supplied
- 265 cable drums delivered at customised lengths
- Optimised installation efficiency across multi-site works
Logistics and supply coordination were critical to maintaining progress across the geographically spread project. A structured delivery approach ensured materials were available when required, while accommodating both planned and responsive supply needs.
Logistics and Delivery:
- 7 deliveries coordinated across the project
- 18 drums supplied from stock and delivered within 2 weeks
- 16 × 40-foot containers used for bulk transport
The HumeLink West project plays an important role in Australia’s energy transition by strengthening transmission infrastructure needed to connect renewable energy zones to the grid. By increasing network capacity and reliability, the project supports the integration of renewable generation and helps enable a more flexible and resilient energy system. It also reinforces the importance of coordinated supply, technical expertise, and compliant electrical infrastructure in delivering large-scale energy projects across Australia.
” Through 4 years and 3 major substation projects, I have utlised Amplex’s high quality customer service and high quality products, to procure specialised cable needed for TransGrid Substations. From the large initial cable orders to the emergency supply of a single drum, I cannot recommend Amplex enough. “
