As part of the Snowy Hydro Scheme, the Lower Tumut Substation project forms part of Transgrid’s high-voltage transmission network, supporting the connection of Snowy Hydro’s generation assets into the broader grid. As a critical node operating at 330kV, the substation plays a key role in transferring large-scale energy across New South Wales and the National Electricity Market.
Working alongside our client, Amplex supplied copper tape screened cables as part of a secondary systems upgrade at Lower Tumut Substation. With tight delivery requirements, cable was sourced from stock and delivered within the required timeframe to support installation activities and keep the project progressing.
Upgrades at the site have focused on modernising ageing secondary systems, including protection, control, and monitoring infrastructure, to address obsolescence and maintain compliance with network performance standards.
