Project Background

Pluto Train 2 is an expansion of the existing Pluto LNG facility in Western Australia, enabling the processing of gas from the offshore Scarborough field. The project includes the construction of a second LNG processing train, together with new domestic gas infrastructure to support supply into both export markets and the Western Australian energy system. As part of a brownfield development, the expansion leverages established infrastructure while increasing overall throughput and improving operational flexibility.

Beyond capacity growth, the project strengthens integration between upstream gas supply and onshore processing, supporting a more efficient and reliable energy value chain. It also contributes to the long-term stability of gas supply in Western Australia, providing additional flexibility to meet both domestic demand and international export requirements. Delivered within an established LNG hub, Pluto Train 2 reinforces the role of the facility as a key piece of energy infrastructure supporting regional industry and long-term supply security.
